My Plant LED lights helps indoor plants
July 23rd, 2008 - Living
This Japanese gadget is a musthave for every plant-lover out there. This gadget is a plant-rearing LED stand, aimed at those who enjoy growing plants indoor but are finding it difficult to keep the plant healthy because of the lack of sunlight.
This gadget comes with two lamps, each made up of 2 blue LEDs and 10 red. By placing the lamp 4-15 inches from the plant, the LED lights will effectively promote photosynthesis. These LEDs will burn the plant if you put the lamp closer than 4 inches, so watch out.
Naturally, cultivation, carbon dioxide and water is still needed on a regular basis.
The built-in timer makes sure you do not have to worry about when to turn on the lights. The 50k hour lifespan of the LEds should last 10 years on daily usage. It uses 1.6 watt and costs about 16 cents per month in electricity to use.
The My Plant is also recommended for growing rosemary, mint or other herbs.
Available for $75 here.

Hmmm, $75, cmon! you can sell it cheaper than that, and with 1.6 watts, the plants are not going to be very healthy. Too many of these cheap (expensive) gimmicks around. It’s making the industry look bad. Yeah it looks nice, but the plants won’t grow properly and it would be more economical to go buy your herbs from the shop than grow your own this way. And by the way, the 50k hour lifespan, that is not a lifespan, it is a half life, as in will be half as bright in 50,000 hours of use. Most of the time with LED’s its not the LED’s that wear out, it’s the capacitors in the power supply and controlling electronics.
